I agree, I’d almost completely discarded my computer at one point in favour of my iPad 1 but now incompataple upgrades and such make it a burden. Despite it still holds really pretty good charge and is still quicker than most smart phones at Internet browsing its only a couple of years old ands is now a joke, no stars apple, really, no stars!

Last week, I noticed my iPad 1 had lost one of the two stereo output channels. The Genius at the Apple store had me reset the iPad and said that I could restore it off my iCloud account. The sound is fixed, but now none of my photos will come through from My Shared photo stream accounts, because I don’t have iOS 6. If I restore from my computer via cable, the stereo is lost again.

What beautiful thing. Well, we all knew things would start to stumble after Steve was gone. Apple has made a $deal$ with the $devil$ and is going to auger into the ground if they keep this kind of sloppy, elitist approach to computing. I own three iPads, six iPhones, a Macbook Pro an iMac and six PC laptops. My PCs never screw me for upgrades.

Same as you guys. My device is only 21 months old. If I would have known then that I would have limited upgrade ability for iOS,. I would have bought a much cheaper unit. Could have replaced it many times over. Very frustrating when an app forces an update and you can’t because you don’t have iOS 6. Apple essentially made our products very expensive paperweights.

Just read your blog, very informative.
I own an iphone 4 and it is updated to IOS 6.1. I have no problem browsing the web and login on, uploading pics etc.
My wife owns an ipad 1 that i bought her a while ago, but she cannot upload pics etc because the IOS version does not support it.
COME ON APPLE give us back our iPads, you have stolen them back, by making them redundant!.

I just left a heartfelt lengthy rant over the original iPad not supporting iOS 6 and wanted to say what triggered my outrage.
I was trying to buy a couple of iTunes gift cards to email and after filling everything out, as I’ve always done in the past, I get a pop up message that my device no longer supports gifting. Stupid move apple…

I’m so angry right now, I could spit acid covered nails.
I’ve had my iPad for two years and now I can’t update IOS? Really???? After being a SOLID Apple fan from the VERY start – I have a PAC man era machine somewhere in the basement – and converting dozens of family members and friends to the Mac world, I guess now that my $700 two year old device is not cool enough to warrant an update, I’ll have to switch to one of the other competitors. Competitors who are becoming increasingly intriquing and cool, and at half the price, perhaps I won’t mind relegating an outmoded device to the trash pile or to the a preschoolers grubby little hands!
Shame on you Apple and shame on you Tim Cook. Way to bite the hands that feed you!
You should probably change your logo now and make sure that the apple is placed in a hand with a bloody bite in the hand instead of the apple. Steve Jobs is probably rolling in his grave.
My iPhone 5 will be the LAST apple product that I’ll EVER own.
