Dilemma of the 21st Century: How to access documents on multiple devices with multiple operating systems?

I struck up a conversation with a woman on the airport train last night, when she asked me about my Samsung Galaxy SIII Android phone. She admired the size and high-resolution of the screen. Then showed me her new gigantic and gleaming Android tablet. She was excited about her new tablet, but wasn’t sure how to share data between her iPhone, her PC, and the tablet.
This is a modern day dilemma: how to share documents on multiple devices with multiple operating systems? Some devout Apple-lovers buy only Mac products and leverage the iCloud to sync all of their files in one place. Roughly 35% of US households have 2 or more Apple products.
But for the masses, the dilemma still stands: a majority of computer and smartphone users are still using more than one operating system.
In 2011, PCs (using the Microsoft Windows Operating System) accounted for 90% of the computers sold in the world. By comparison, Apple’s Mac and iPad combined sales equate to 14.6% of the global market. While Apple continues to take over the world – we still have challenges as tech users to access our data on multiple devices and operating systems.
Like the woman I met, I have an iPad, a Windows PC, and an Android phone. But as I explained to her, I have a simple solution to this dilemma, which makes my digital life so much easier:
I use Trend Micro™ SafeSync™, our online sync and backup solution, to store and share all of my music, photos, and documents in the cloud. I have folders on my PC desktop that automatically sync to my 100GB account online, every time I make changes to them. To easily access or share these files when I’m on the road, I have a SafeSync app on both my Android phone and iPad. Plus, any pictures I take on my phone –my primary digital camera – are easily uploaded to SafeSync, so I can have them on my desktop and iPad, too. Problem solved.
With SafeSync, I can geek-out on all the latest new technology, regardless of its operating system, and still keep all of my files in one place (I can’t wait to set-up my new Kindle Fire!).
I work for Trend Micro and the opinions expressed here are my own.
